SCOPE

Performs a variety of tasks before, during and after procedures to assist the surgical team while maintaining a sterile environment (as required) in a professional medical setting.

DUTIES

• Observe and maintain compliance with all OSHA guidelines
• Prepare instruments, equipment and appropriate medications if needed for surgical procedures. 
• Maintain the proper patient flow.
• Clean and sterilize instruments
• Communicate with patients for pre- and post- instructions.  
• Complete needed paperwork and obtaining required clearances if needed.
• Responsible for maintaining inventory system of surgical supplies and ordering supplies as needed.
• Creates daily surgery assignments
• Assist and provide services requested/required by the doctor during a procedure
• Suture removal
• Maintains aseptic techniques
• Takes proper before and after procedure photos
• Prepares rooms in a reasonable timely manner
• Applies proper dressings to patients
• Any other duties the Office Manager may assign.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

• Completion of a surgical technician program with certification preferred or a combination of schooling and experience.
• CPR certified.
• Ability to interact with doctors, patients and office staff in a professional manner.
• Conduct work independently with minimal supervision.
• Excellent communication of the English language (spoken and written).
• Exceptional customer service skills and a motivating, positive attitude.
